OUR CHOSEN CHARITY

Toilet Twinning

For years now, we have matched our customers’ donations with the aid of the brilliant charity Toilet Twinning.

For every £60 raised, the charity funds a project in a community that helps families to build their own basic toilet, access clean water and learn about hygiene – a vital combination that saves lives.

Do you have an event coming up and think Cafédral would be an excellent venue?

Fantastic find A fantastic find near the cathedral. We visited as a family of 5 and were all highly impressed, from the lovely staff, the excellent menu choices, speed of service and the fabulous looking, delicious food. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning here when I visit Durham again.

Great café, will be back 🙂 My favourite café in Durham. Great food, reasonably priced and very friendly staff. We were six people and every effort was made to fit us in without any waiting time. And if you are there, make sure you pick up some of their wonderful Durham sauce - a most delicious salad dressing.

Best salad and great ambience I like fresh unadulterated food. Today’s soup was chunky veg & red lentil - very wholesome and tasty. The salmon salad was fantastic - the best salad I have had when eating out. All the better for me for being able to request (and get!) no dressings or sauces but normally these would be served on the side anyway. A good selection of cakes, including a good number of gluten free options. Great service and ambience.

Cafe close to castle and cathedral. A busy day in Durham so pleased we got a table after a short wait. Delicious food - I had a chicken and cranberry sandwich, husband had the smoked salmon and avocado salad. We then had hot drinks and a warm fruit scone. The cafe was bustling, and the staff were attentive and friendly. They kept us informed about the waiting time.

Hidden Gem caught my eye! Spotted this cool place coming back down from the Cathedral after visiting the ice sculptures. It was busy when we arrived. We waited around 10 minutes so they could find us a space to sit. Whilst waiting we received menus to look through. We were in quite efficiently and were served promptly. The food we ate was deliciously prepared and it was such a lovely place to visit. Small really well worth it! I would visit again if in Durham as you could even pop in for a coffee. Cake or scone. We opted for sandwiches which were very tasty indeed!

Really nice Visited for lunch. Short wait to be seated due to it being busy. Good service and the Greek salad wraps were tasty. Good atmosphere and enjoyable. Even came away with a bottle of their Durham dressing.

LOVELY FOOD, KIND AND CARING STAFF I visited the cafe as my wife, daughter son in law and grandson went round the castle but due to the steps and me being on a stroller I wanted something to eat. There was that sign cream tea. Oh no they’d sold out, still they had some homemade quiche, with 1 table empty right at the very back could i get it.? The young man who served me kindly got my coffee and quiche and off he sprinted to that table and also asked people politely if they could make a gap for me to come through with my frame. A young waitress came over to ask if my quiche was ok and then as i was leaving it was lovely having a chat to the manageress. The cafe was very clean and tidy and as soon as a table became empty a staff member would appear take away the pots and then back to wipe down the tables and chairs. I thought the prices were on par with what youd pay in a high street cafe.

Best coffee ever. If you are in Durham and looking for a lovely place to go for coffee and perhaps a bite to eat, you won't go far wrong at Cafedral (on the way to the cathedral). The coffee is the best in town (I'm sure) and all the staff are so welcoming. If you have a dog there is seating outside. Give it a try. Thank you to all concerned.
